Each brings a unique perspective, passion, and expertise to our team, and we’re excited to see the fresh energy and insights they’ll contribute. Here’s a glimpse into their journeys so far and what excites them about being part of the GCX family.
What first attracted you to GCX?
Sayana Bharati (SB) “Working with a multinational corporation like GCX offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with diverse teams globally and work with them”.
Shinjani Mishra (SM) “Its innovative solutions in the telecom and networking sector aligned perfectly with my interests and career aspirations”.
Siddesh Upadhyay (SU) “I was looking for a big multinational corporation, having presence all over the world”.
What was the recruitment / interview process like as a new emlpoyee?
SU “It started with a computer-based aptitude test which contained moderate-hard level questions on computer networking, mental ability, logical reasoning and verbal ability, this was then followed by two rounds of interviews, and participants then were shared the list of being selected within 2-3 days.
SM “What stood out most was its efficiency and speed, especially when compared to the often-lengthy timelines of other companies”
SB “The atmosphere during the interviews was friendly, which made it easy to express my thoughts and showcase my potential as a new employee”.
How were your first few days/weeks as a new employee?
SB “The induction program was a one-day event where department heads presented insights about their teams and how they operate. It was a great way to get an overview of the company and helped me see how interconnected everything is here.”
SU “We started with training in areas related to my work profile like networking, cyber security and network security.”
SM “The well-structured induction program introduced me to the company’s values, culture, and processes, while helping me grasp the nuances of the corporate working environment. Each day brought new learning experiences, from understanding team dynamics and adapting to workflows, to familiarizing myself with the systems in place.”
What excites you about the future?
SU “The important and emerging areas of tech where GCX is investing and expanding excites me as I feel I can contribute to those areas in coming times.”
SM “What excites me about the future is the tremendous growth potential of the industry and my work domain, particularly in network security. The tech sector, especially in telecommunications and networking, is evolving rapidly, driven by advancements in cloud computing, AI-ML and cybersecurity. GCX is actively involved in these technologies by introducing various products and services, which excites me the most as I feel I can contribute to it which will be helpful for my growth.”
SB “At GCX, being part of a multinational company means I have many opportunities to collaborate with colleagues from different countries, which is a fantastic way to learn and grow.”
How does it feel to be a woman in tech?
SM “To be a Women in Tech provides you a platform to inspire others and demonstrate that gender is not a barrier but a strength in this field and this is deeply rewarding.”
SB “It is really exciting and empowering. I believe that both women and men bring unique perspectives to problem-solving, allowing us to approach challenges in diverse ways. It’s encouraging to see that what was once a male-dominated field is increasingly recognizing the importance of diversity and inclusion.”
Are there any people you would like to mention – mentors, etc. ?
SU “My manager Sumesh who has been guiding me through right from the start of the induction, with daily/weekly updates. Vishal and Sandeep who have given valuable and important inputs that are needed to strengthen my foundation in the field of cyber and network security”
SM “To name a few, Minu Nair is one person who has inspired me the most. Being a woman, she had marked a very strong place in the team with her skills and talent. Her friendly and welcoming nature really helped me to be comfortable. Another person to name is my manager Mr. Sumesh Menon, who had always been there for me, addressing my issues and constantly guiding me to move forward.”
SB “At GCX, there’s no one specific person that inspires me, but the Managers of Service Assurance are my inspiration. I have seen them work and the way they handle the customers and cases inspires me to do my work with more dedication and perfection.”
Are there any specific highlights as a new employee?
SM – Exposure to real-world projects and the chance to collaborate with talented professionals has broadened my understanding and honed my technical skills.
SB – The journey so far has been great. From the very start I was being trained on courses such as Remedy, CCNA, ServiceNow, SDWAN, Meraki, DMVPN, VPNs, GRE, IPSec & Call Etiquettes.
SU – I participated and ranked 5th in the GCX-Udemy learning challenge in which I spent time learning different concepts and skills on topics like cyber security, networking, personal development, IT certifications.
